Notte da Oscar senza sorprese a Los Angeles dove, come da pronostici, ha vinto “Il Discorso del Re” (The King’s Speech) di Tom Hooper. Il film sul sovrano inglese balbuziente Giorgio VI (nonno dell’attuale regina d’Inghilterra), in gara in ben 12 categorie, si è aggiudicato infatti 4 statuette, le più prestigiose: miglior film, miglior regia, miglior attore protagonista (lo straordinario Colin Firth) e miglior sceneggiatura originale (David Seidler). La vittoria de “Il Discorso del Re” inorgoglisce gli inglesi che ai loro Bafta (gli oscar del cinema britannico) hanno premiato per la miglior regia “The Social Network”.
Scontati gli Oscar per i migliori attori: a Natalie Portman quello come miglior attrice protagonista per la sua interpretazione della ballerina de “Il cigno nero” (Black Swan) di Darren Aronofsky; a Melissa Leo e Christian Bale quelli come migliori attori non protagonisti per “The Fighter” di David O. Russell, dove sono rispettivamente madre e figlio.
Delusione per il più accreditato rivale di Hooper, David Fincher, che con “The Social Network” riesce ad ottenere dalle 8 nomination solo tre premi: quelli per la miglior sceneggiatura non originale firmata da Aaron Sorkin (già premiato con il Golden Globe), la colonna sonora di Trent Reznor e Atticus Ross e miglior montaggio. Il film su Facebook è stato sorpassato, a sorpresa, da “Inception” di Christopher Nolan, che ha vinto 4 premi tecnici: miglior mixaggio, montaggio sonoro, miglior fotografia e migliori effetti speciali.
A bocca asciutta i fratelli Coen, nonostante le 10 nomination de “Il Grinta” (True Grit) e Danny Boyle con “127 Ore” (127 Hours), candidato in sei categorie.
Tra gli altri premi assegnati quello a “In un mondo migliore” (In a better world) di Susanne Bier (vincitore dell’ultimo Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma) per il migliore film straniero che porta il terzo Oscar della storia al cinema danese. Miglior film d’animazione a “Toy Story 3”, che ha vinto anche l’Oscar per la migliore canzone originale, “We belong together”.
Alla cerimonia sul palco del Kodak Theatre di Los Angeles, presentata dagli attori Anne Hathaway e James Franco, Natalie Portman si è presentata con un lungo ed ampio abito viola. L’attrice, in avanzato stato di gravidanza, ha ringraziato il fidanzato, il coreografo Benjamin Millepied, incontrato proprio sul set de “Il cigno nero”, per averle regalato il ruolo più importante della sua vita: “Quello di mamma”.
Visibilmente emozionato Colin Firth ha ritirato il suo primo Oscar dichiarando: “Ho la sensazione che la mia carriera abbia raggiunto il picco”. L’attore inglese era già stato candidato l’anno scorso per il ruolo di un professore omosessuale in “A single man” di Tom Ford.
Il 74enne David Seidler, autore della sceneggiatura de “Il Discorso del Re”, dopo aver annunciato di sperare con tutto il cuore che nei prossimi anni possano venire premiati degli sceneggiatori più anziani di lui, ha voluto dedicare il suo successo a tutte le persone del mondo che soffrono di balbuzie, disturbo di cui è stato vittima lui stesso.
Ma il momento più divertente della serata l’ha regalato Kirk Douglas che, salito sul palco per premiare la miglior attrice non protagonista, ha scherzato con i due conduttori: dopo aver flirtato con Anne Hathaway ed aver definito James Franco molto più attraente “fuori dalla grotta” (chiaro riferimento al film “127 Ore” di cui è protagonista), l’attore 94enne ha preso in giro Colin Firth, perché non ride mai.
Nel corso della serata sono stati omaggiati i protagonisti del mondo del cinema scomparsi nell’ultimo anno. Sulle note di un brano cantato da Celine Dion, sono passate anche le immagini di Mario Monicelli e Dino De Laurentiis, unico pezzetto d’Italia della cerimonia dato che la costumista Antonella Cannarozzi (“Io sono l’amore” di Luca Guadagnino) è stata battuta da Colleen Atwood per “Alice in Wonderland” di Tim Burton (che vince anche per la scenografia).
